Overview: Enhanced Biosecurity Plan
The premises map is the foundation for your enhanced biosecurity plan. It serves to identify areas on the farm that are critical for biosecurity and indicates what access and activities are taking place at locations throughout the farm. All elements identified on the premises map will also be described in the written text of the enhanced biosecurity plan.
In this module you will review tutorials on how to create a premises map, and will have the chance to create a labeled map yourself. The examples that you will be reviewing were made in accordance with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Secure Food Supply program standards. You will learn about the terms used to describe the items and areas on a farm that are critical for biosecurity, and which must be addressed in an enhanced biosecurity plan.
Module Objectives
After successful completion of this learning module you will be able to:
- Create a labeled farm premises map that meets the CDFA SFS program requirements outlined in the template.
- Describe how map making skills for biosecurity plans can be used during normal operating times.
- Demonstrate knowledge of terminology associated with premises mapping by correctly labeling a farm premises map.
