The terms below will help you understand terms used when describing the mapping tool for farm premises.
●Property Line – legal property boundary
●Enhanced Biosecurity Plan – building on daily biosecurity practices, the enhanced biosecurity plan focuses on protecting California Agriculture by maintaining business continuity for support industries (producers, shippers, food processors, etc), provide a continuous supply of wholesome food to consumers, and by avoiding interruptions in animal/animal product movement. This plan is written with producer, veterinarian, and support industry input, and reviewed and approved by CDFA-AHFSS. The enhanced biosecurity plan is activated when a region is threatened by an outbreak of foreign animal disease, and can include SOPs, maps, training for employees, and more.
●PBA Perimeter – Perimeter Buffer Area – outermost boundary of the perimeter buffer area (PBA)
●Lines of Separation – indicate areas of highest biosecurity to prevent contamination of an infectious disease
●PBA – Perimeter Buffer Area– zone of essential structures and high traffic areas used daily
●Perimeter Access Points – locations where movement can be made into the PBA. Documentation of access and biosecurity disinfection points should be present.
●PPE – personal protective equipment
●Vehicle C&D Stations – located at all perimeter access points
